Description

We are assisting a highly reputable portfolio of start up fintechs at seedling stage, who are seeking to hire their first MLRO assisting the firm with becoming a licenced EMI/SPI/API. There are full-time and part-time opportunities available and you would have proven experience of helping these types of firms in the past. You will be confident in your ability to manage the licencing application with the FCA through to approval and work autonomously in a standalone role.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Update firm of relevant regulatory risks
  • Manage compliance monitoring programme
  • Update risk committee of relevant regulatory risks
  • Conduct employee compliance / AML training
  • Ensuring appropriate compliance and risk controls are in place
  • Escalate issues to the Managing Director to monitor all issues

General duties

  • Undertake the compliance monitoring programme advising the Managing Director with any findings, updating the test where appropriate
  • Keep updated with regulatory news by horizon scanning
  • Ensure that all regulatory changes are reviewed and the impact notified to the senior management
  • Report to the senior management and regulators as required any suspected breaches of the legal or regulatory requirements or internal compliance policies and standards.
  • Be the first point of contact on compliance and EDD issues and Queries
  • Take responsibility for the approved customer process, primarily from the Romford office as required, including vetting new customers and managing existing customers, EDD training etc.
  • Conduct regular, effective training (and updates as necessary) to ensure that staff are aware of and understand the requirements of the relevant legislation and compliance policy and procedures.
  • Provide support to the managing director to become fully compliant.
  • Ensure all compliance owned registers are kept up to date e.g. PEP register, complaints, gifts and entertainment, sanctions, breaches etc.
  • Receive, review, investigate and if appropriate, externalise internal suspicious activity reports
  • Roll out online AML training to all new employees
  • Ensure that all regulatory changes are reviewed and the impact notified to the group compliance, manager and risk committee
  • Recommend any changes to the operating procedures as required in light of the regulation or procedural changes and when required provide input into the development of the new operating procedures
  • Report to the risk committee as required by the terms of the reference and assist in the investigation of any suspected breaches of the legal or regulatory requirements or internal compliance policies and standards.

Professional Qualification / Education / Experience

  • Previous FCA approved person as MLRO / Money Laudering Reportng Officer
  • Degree level / Relevant Professional Qualification / Qualified by experience
  • Seasoned professional wanting to work from home / flexible hours / visit the head office as and when needed.
