We are working with a leading Financial Markets Association to seek an expert with strong knowledge of MIFID regulations. In this role you will be required to independently lead some of the underlying workstreams working closely with senior individuals, at leading investment banks, developing the regulation relating to the impact on fixed income markets (primarily credit, government bond trading but also other asset classes such as covered bonds and supranationals). With detailed knowledge of key MiFIR II/MiFIR regulatory and legal aspects, you will help shape policy and develop solutions in a challenging financial market environment that impacts bond trading desks and will play an active role in maintaining and increasing the firm's visibility in all aspects of secondary fixed income markets in the EU and UK.
An important part of the role will be spent monitoring and reacting to the review aspects of the MiFIR / MiFID II regime offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of regulatory and market developments whilst keeping in close contact with the business
Responsibilities:
- Working in close collaboration with the Fixed Income Trading Director, be involved with and take responsibility for developing:
- The body's regulatory policy initiatives impacting fixed income markets including Fixed Income MiFID II/MiFIR workstream and developing best practices, where requested by members
- Credit and Primary Dealers Boards, Covered Bond Trading Forum and their underlying specific workstreams. These include new initiatives in sustainable finance and digital technology
- Professional relationships with the member representatives on the fixed income working groups
- Relationships with a wide range of other fixed income stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, trading venues and data vendors and engaging with external industry initiatives and forums
- In conjunction with Advocacy Division; strong relationships with policymakers, regulators and members on advocacy priorities including attending meetings and preparing briefing notes
- Relevant EU and London-based conferences and events
- Alongside other staff; the identification and building of relationships with European investor and corporate end users to seek collaboration on common positions; and
- Relationships with other European and London industry trade associations to develop cross-industry proposals
Knowledge skills and experience
Essential:
- Knowledge of MiFID II/MiFIR at a detailed level , and its implications for the European fixed income markets at either a member bank, law firm, or other market participant active in fixed income markets
- Exposure to the pan-European credit, government bond, covered bonds and other pan-European fixed income secondary trading markets, gained via experience in trading, origination, syndication, business management, operations, research, regulation or other relevant areas
- 3-5yrs experience focused on either of the above areas
- A bachelor's or equivalent professional degree; a law degree is helpful but not required
