Finance Officer

A boutique prestigious international banking organisation is seeking an Accounts Assistant/Finance Officer to support the bank's Accountant in the control of all accounts functions and assisting External Auditors, Advisors and the Head office Management Team.

Main duties:

To be responsible for the following operational, reporting and accounts functions:

• Daily review and investigation of assets and liabilities in each currency.
• Nostro and Suspense Account Reconciliations.
• Preparing the daily Liquidity Report in the absence of the accountant.
• Monthly passing of entries for accrued income, liabilities and prepaid expenses.
• Fixed assets control of inventory and accrual records.
• Control Information System to include budget forecasts and variance analysis of operating expenses and revenues.
• Preparation of quarterly VAT Returns, quarterly payment of income tax deducted on interest payments, monthly payment of National Insurance and PAYE Income Tax, and assistance in the preparation of annual Corporation Tax Returns.
• Assist in the preparation of external and internal audits.
• Investigation and payment of authorised invoices and strict control of records. Liaising with third party providers and suppliers.
• Control of petty cash, ensuring payments are authorised and adequate receipts kept.
• Involvement in daily audit trail.
• Loro accounts: send statements to correspondents who request them.
• Updating and maintaining procedural documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of reports

Key requirements

• Degree holder or part qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA (not essential)
• Strong IT skills, particularly proficiency with Excel spreadsheet software and ability to write VBA code in Excel.
• Ideally hold previous finance experience at a bank
